  • Accent or no accent?

Recently, Southernlass issued a video/audio challenge.  There are so many English-speaking people on Xanga, representing so many different countries.  Her challenge brought out some of the best--and most hilarious--in us.  (I urge you to join, too.....for those of you that I've only met on Xanga, I'd love to hear your voice; for those of you who are longstanding friends, I miss your voice, and would love to hear it again;  and it's a lot of fun!)

    Here is mine (second attempt):

    Now, make yours (pleasssssse!):

Make a video or audio recording of yourself saying the following words on the list:

    Syrup
    Cement
    Route
    Rural
    Town
    Oil
    Juror
    Lafayette
    Havana

    Tournament
    Oregon
    Water
    Drawer
    Idea
    Wash
    Terrible

    Nine

    Five

    Park

    Caramel

    Car

    Now

    Tire

    Thing

    MOOOOOO!

This is the accent challenge for my blog of d00000000000m.

Then you upload the video or audio file to your Xanga, and drop a line to me here, so I can link you for participating.  Please try to sound as natural as possible!!!  Yes, you have to say the last word and the last sentence! I'll leave the submissions open until 5-23-08.

    (Instructions for audio: )

    1. Open your Start menu
    2. Under "All programs," find "Accesories"
    3. Under "accesories," hit "Entertainment"
    4. Under entertainment, hit "Sound Recorder"
    5. Press the red dot to record.
    6. Increase volume as needed ("effects")
    7. Save file to a place you can find it later.
    8. Upload to xanga using "Add Audio" feature.

ha ha, well I plan on posting....ha ha, and I think it will be a looooooooooooooong one. But Lord willin, people won't mind reading it. I think it might be entertaining...ha ha, and informative.....people just don't have that much of and idea of what it's really like sometimes perhaps. I'm not sure when it'll be up, but hey, one of these days before too long maybe I can open some people's eyes and maybe get a few laughs.

Thanks for the mini! : )

  • PaulsShar

@shha - Why don't you do your post in increments?  Give us li'l tidbits....and then you won't have to devote so much time to it all at once.  I'm looking forward to it, btw!  Looking forward to your audio--or video--challenge post, too.

  • shha

you know.....that might not be a bad idea....posting it in incriments that is.....genius. I might just do that. lol.

Ha ha, and I don't know about the audio challenge, but I think it might be pretty cool if I did one. I am however slighty tech challenged maybe. lol. So if I put the audio in some file or something, I don't know if I could find it again. lol.

  • PaulsShar

@shha - tech challenged?  You?  Assuming you did your own site layout, you are as tech challenged as I am mongolian!  (c'mon...you'll have to come up with a better excuse! )

  • shha

ha ha ha, actually I didn't set up my site. lol. My friend Reagan did. lol. She's pretty good with that kind of stuff. And she's one of the most amazing girls in the world. I wouldn't know how to go about designing a layout for xanga. lol. Or anything for that matter. I think it was only this year, that I actually began putting up pictures that I had taken for profile pictures. lol. And if I hadn't done that, then it'd still be the one that Reagan had up. lol.

  • PaulsShar

@shha - sounds like me, too.  Can't tell you how many times I've tried to put my own photos as a backdrop for my site, and gave up in despair!  Reagan sounds like a "keeper"!

Anyway, I left instructions--that I learned from someone else's blog--on the bottom of my post, to do the audio challenge....so I hope you do it, too!

  • shha

Oh, she's amazing. And not just because of her computer skills. lol. Unlike so many people today she tries to do what's right. And not just because she has to, but because she wants to. And it shows. She tries to go by what the Bible says. And that's something to look for as a future wife. : )

ha ha, and she put a picture that I drew as a backdrop for her site once. lol. She's definately talented.

  • PaulsShar

@shha - Wow!  You should definitely keep your eye on her....and pray for her, too.  The devil hates those that desire to follow Christ.  She sounds like a great gal!

  • Ezekiel36_33to36

sounds like an interesting project.  I would do it... but I know I need to truly be doing some other things this weekend -- but it's tempting for sure!

  • PaulsShar

@katie0873 - southernlass's challenge runs for another week....but my desire to hear your post is indefinite..lol.  So, whenever you get the chance, I'll be looking forward to hearing it!

  • Southeast_Beauty

I love the emphasis that you put in the last line.

This was such a fun project. It's really nice to hear the different voices/intonations people have, especially in a weblog community like this where the main focus is the blog (where audio recordings/video recordings are merely just added items). I've known some people here for years and I have yet to hear their voice. It's crazy.

You should come back over and check out Taoman79.  He is my Canadian buddy I told you about. ;)
